About Us
With grant funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is working with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (the host of this web site) and active partners throughout Texas, sharing information and resources to educate citizens on environmentally responsible “YardWise” residential lawn and landscape management practices.
The focus of this effort is to reduce urban runoff and improve water quality in six major urban areas of the state – the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Corpus Christi, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley. But the benefits of YardWise practices go far beyond water quality, and far beyond these cities, to every Texan with a yard to tend.

Our Partners
Efficient, environmentally responsible yard care goes by many different names throughout Texas: "Grow Green," "SmartScape," "EarthKind," "WaterSmart," and more. Thanks to these partner organizations and programs that have generously shared information, contacts, energy, and resources for the YardWise.
